Iran: New Scheme to Improve Antitheft Car Security

The judiciary is set to push forward with a national scheme to significantly reduce the number of car thefts in the country. Head of the judiciary’s Crime Prevention Bureau Alireza Savari, told state TV as per the scheme all vehicle owners will be required to install a tracking device in their cars. 

The proposed tracking system will collect the data on vehicle location in a database with the national police. In case the car is stolen the police will be able to locate it in few minutes and nab the thief. The initial phase of the plan will be launched in August and the tracking system will be installed on half a million cars.
